Master machinist Fred Bouffard, standing next to his latest creation: his 4-8-4 NYC Niagara #6008.

A quartering view of the engine. Not a single casting on the entire engine, every part, pipe and fitting is constructed from scratch by Fred.

A close-up shot of the Valve Gear. I was lucky enough to witness the operation of the engine and valve gear on the stationary testing table. Smooth as silk. Beautiful to work. Craftsmanship is remarkable, the attention to detail is unreal.

Builders plate.

A nice shot of the cab

Here are the gauges and valves, closeup of the backhead

One of Fred's 2 computerized CNC Milling Machines. We saw this machine "spit out" a part. After hours of programming the machine, it'll go ahead and cut out a complex piece, all by itself.

The control panel of Fred's CNC Milling machine, and Fred.
